Oncology Massage Therapy is a safe specialised form of massage that is completely tailored to meet the unique and changing needs of someone currently undergoing cancer or recovering from treatment. A beautiful massage that gently supports the body, promotes relaxing and increases a sense of wellbeing. Research has shown that massage can help reduce nausea, pain, fatigue, swelling while promoting sleep and reducing symptoms of anxiety and depression. As a Clinical Nurse Specialist in Cancer Services and weaving in a toolbox of therapeutic massage techniques and somatic touch a comprehensive assessment plan will take into account all aspects of cancer treatments. Both the short and long term of effects chemotherapy, radiation and surgery as well as any individual preferences and special needs. It can be completely tailored in terms of session length, pressure, positioning which takes into account areas of specific concern like access lines (CVADS), bone metastases, surgery complications, wound sites, swelling, fatigue, nausea, anxiety and just the general often uncomfortable feelings both physical and emotional from treatment.
