Food is medicine and I am always on the lookout for great places to buy quality fresh, local produce. In support of our wonderful farmers and with less food miles as possible. These are a few of my favourites: ~ If you find some in the area please let me know so that I can add to the list.
Tullys Corner Store
630 Moorooduc Highway, Mornington @tullyscorner
Even if you don't live near by, Tullys Corner in Mornington is well worth the drive. Filled to the brim with amazing produce and some local fruits and veggies. Its not organic (although they have a great organic section) the quality of the produce is probably I think the best. You can pretty much get anything and everything exotic and unusual at Tullys. Amazing oils, sauces, spreads, honey, bone broths, muesli's, nuts, seeds and beautiful breads, naughty treats, vegan and gluten free foods. It has one of the the most amazing deli sections I have ever seen. It's a picnic haven. It can be on the pricey side of things but they always have bargain bags of local apples and other fruits and veggies at reasonable prices.
Peninsula Fresh Organics
6 Henderson Rd, Baxter @penfreshorganic
Peninsula Fresh Organics was one of my old haunts and has grown so much in the last few years. Its one of my original favourites and is completely organic biodynamic. It has just an amazing farm gate to style shop and is as fresh as you could possibly get without having to grow it yourself. You can see the produce growing out the back . Well worth it for the organic greens, juicing produce and the pure crunch, fresh aliveness of the food.
Bonbeach Farmers Market
Bonbeach Primary School, Breeze Street, Bonbeach @bonbeachmarkersmarket
Very privileged to be able to live in Bonbeach and go to these markets. Always look forward to heading to the markets, regardless of weather. Honestly, the best markets around with lots of gorgeous produce. Into the Roots Farm, Pen Fresh Organics, amazing local honey, eggs, breads, pies, cakes and my all time favourite the Yarra Valley Berry guy. So many berries, so delicious, so fresh (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries and of course strawberries) !! The markets are on every 2nd Sunday of the month. $2 gold coin donation which goes to the school and just a fantastic way to support the local farmers and producers of all things good.
Edithvale Community Greengrocer
280 Nepean Highway, Edithvale (open Tues-Fri 10-4) Sat 10-2.
@edigrocer
Edigrocer is a small organic shop on the Nepean highway. They do a seasonal produce box delivery around the local area. The store offers some great dried goods and fill your own jar type set up. Some good fresh produce on Wed & Sat.
Prom Coast Food Collective
www.promcoastfoodcollective.com.au
I think these guys are pretty special ! They are a collaboration of local, ethical farmers. Delivering quality produce weekly to Melbourne, Gippsland and the Mornington Peninsula. Check out the website. It has almost everything you could want with all the farming families on the collective growing organically and regeneratively. You can meet the farmers and 90 cents in the $1 goes back to the farmers.

Henrys - Frankston Shopping Centre
If you are down at the Frankston Shopping Centre Henrys is a great place to get lots of bargains and some good quality produce. Great breads and deli section. (its a bit like Tullys but closer to home).
Dandenong Markets
With food prices the way they are, its is definitely worth the tip to the Dandy Markets. The prices are unbeatable. Maybe not that local, but the fresh produce is overwhelming. It may take a while to sort out what you need and what is the best quality but for a bargain its pretty unbeatable. There is a great section in the middle of the market with some organics. Keep your eye out for it and the massive crates of unwaxed apples. Fish, meats, deli, nuts, seeds, oils the the most abundant fresh produce at some amazing prices. It has it all. Sometimes we can't go organic, but at least we can make it as fresh as possible.
